About Notts Leak Detection
Notts Leak Detection is a leak detection and supply-pipe company serving Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. It finds hidden leaks on the water supply pipe between the property boundary and the house, fixes them through one hole, and replaces the pipe when a repair won't last.
What we do
Most of the work is on the pipe homeowners forget they own. Severn Trent is responsible for the water main, the communication pipe, the boundary stop tap and the meter. From the boundary to the house, the supply pipe belongs to the homeowner, even where it runs under someone else's land. When it leaks, the water usually drains away underground, and the first sign is a bill that has doubled.

Methods and standards
Leaks are located from the surface before anything is dug: meter and pressure tests, acoustic ground microphones, leak noise correlation, thermal imaging for hot pipes, and a non-flammable 5% hydrogen, 95% nitrogen tracer gas for quiet leaks on plastic pipe.
Repairs and new pipes follow the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999: WRAS-approved pipe and fittings, and new supply pipes laid 750mm to 1,350mm below finished ground level. Lead pipe work follows Severn Trent's Lead Replacement Scheme rules, including the requirement for a WaterSafe plumber on shared supplies.

Two things can bring money back: trace and access cover on many buildings insurance policies, and Severn Trent's one-off leakage allowance once a leak is fixed. The written report is there to support both.
